【摘要】:UraniumandplutoniumareusedinnuclearreactorfuelandmustbeanalyzedtoinsurethattheymeetcertaincriteriaforisotopiccompositionasdescribedinSpecificationC833andSpecificationC1008.Thisstandardpracticeisusedtochemicallyseparatethesamemasspeakinterferencesfromuraniumandplutoniumandfromotherimpuritiespriortoisotopicabundancedeterminationbythermalionizationmassspectrometry.Inthosefacilitieswhereperchloricaciduseistolerated,theseparationinTestMethodC698maybeusedpriortoisotopicabundancedetermination.UraniumandplutoniumconcentrationsaswellasisotopicabundancesusingthermalionizationmassspectrometrycanbedeterminedusingthisseparationandfollowingTestMethodC1625.1.1Thispracticeisfortheionexchangeseparationofuraniumandplutoniumfromeachotherandfromotherimpuritiesforsubsequentisotopicanalysisbythermalionizationmassspectrometry.Plutoniumx2013;238anduraniumx2013;238,andplutoniumx2013;241andamericiumx2013;241,willappearasthesamemasspeakandmustbechemicallyseparatedpriortoanalysis.Onlyhighpuritysolutionscanbeanalyzedreliablyusingthermalionizationmassspectrometry.1.2Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterial,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
