【摘要】:Tensiontestsprovideinformationonthestrengthandductilityofmaterialsunderuniaxialtensilestresses.Thisinformationmaybeusefulincomparisonsofmaterials,alloydevelopment,qualitycontrol,anddesign.Theresultsoftensiontestsfromselectedportionsofapartormaterialmaynottotallyrepresentthestrengthandductilityoftheentireendproductofitsin-servicebehaviorindifferentenvironments.Thesetestmethodsareconsideredsatisfactoryforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentssincethemethodshavebeenusedextensivelyforthesepurposes.Tensiontestsprovideameanstodeterminetheductilityofmaterialsthroughthemeasurementeitherofelongationorreductionofarea.However,asspecimenthicknessisreduced,tensiontestsmaybecomelessusefulforthedeterminationofductility.ForthesepurposesTestMethodE796presentsanalternativeprocedureformeasuringductility.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthetensiontestingofmetallicfoilatroomtemperatureinthicknesseslessthan0.006in.(0.150mm).Note18212;Exceptiontothesemethodsmaybenecessaryinindividualspecificationsortestmethodsforaparticularmaterial.1.2Units8212;Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
