【摘要】:ThisbenchtestmethodwasdesignedasareplacementforTestMethodD5844.TestMethodD5844wasdesignedtomeasuretheabilityofanengineoiltoprotectvalvetraincomponentsagainstrustingorcorrosionunderlowtemperature,short-tripservice,andwascorrelatedwithvehiclesinthattypeofservicepriorto1978.55.1.1Correlationbetweenthesetwotestmethodshasbeendemonstratedformost,butnotall,ofthetestoilsevaluated.1.1ThistestmethodcoversaBallRustTest(BRT)procedureforevaluatingtheanti-rustabilityoffluidlubricants.Theprocedureisparticularlysuitablefortheevaluationofautomotiveengineoilsunderlow-temperature,acidicserviceconditions.1.2InformationLettersarepublishedoccasionallybytheASTMTestMonitoringCenter(TMC)toupdatethistestmethod.Copiesoftheseletterscanbeobtainedbywritingthecenter.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinotherunitsshallberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,useeachsystemindependentlyoftheother,withoutcombiningvaluesinanyway.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.See7.1.1-7.1.3and8.2.1.1.
